From last night’s programme:
The Clare Crest
The Clare insignia is probably unique in that it is one of the very few specifically designed county GAA hallmarks. Very few counties have the distinction of their very own trademark in the form of a county GAA badge.
What they do have and what they adopt or adapt for GAA purposes are the two arms of their principal borough, towns, cities or counties.
Was this particular ‘snippet’ snipped somewhere along the line? I’m guessing that the Clare GAA crest is also the crest of County Clare rather than the other way around, which would explain why Waterford’s GAA crest has gone through a few iterations rather than maintaining the classic Three Ships motif while Clare’s has remained the same. If this is the case, could they not have just said so?
