A few weeks back I wrote about the sad state of affairs that saw certain events fall off the edge of the historical record. I was referring specifically to events that happened at the beginning of the 20th century, so it was moderately surprising to find that these things happen, although at a more micro level, in 2010. Over at hurlingstats.com (and this post is mainly a plug for the splendid work on that site) they have / (s)he has noted the disagreements that exist over who scored what point at various matches throughout this year’s Championship. It should be a breeze for hacks to “compare notes afterwards” but trying to get journalists to pool resources might lead to the pooling of expense accounts. Plus ça change.
