Football’s indeterminancy principle

Approaching half-time in today’s National Football League Division 3 games, Waterford are leading against Westmeath in Mullingar. Limerick and Tipperary are leading Louth and Offaly respectively. Bring on the promotion charge, hurrah!

Approaching full-time in today’s National Football League Division 3 games, Waterford are losing badly to Westmeath in Mullingar. Limerick and Tipperary are leading Louth and Offaly respectively. Relegation battle looming, crap!

And had Cavan succeeding in overturning a seven-point deficit against Wexford – they lost by one in the end – it could have been far worse. The moral of the story? You can only rely on yourself. Hurlers, take note – if we want to win the League (and we do) only three wins in your remaining games will do.

We had a bit of that ourselves in Croke Park last Sunday: 14 points down after less than 20 minutes, back to level pegging by around 50, then down to five again. It was hard to know which way was up on Sunday!
